Reclaimed is a weekly series on CBC Radio that explores the many worlds of contemporary Indigenous music from traditional songs and acoustic sounds to Native hip-hop, R&B, and the dancefloor-filling beats of electric powwow.
Reclaimed is the home to the next wave of Indigenous music on CBC. Combining past, present and future this series explores the many worlds of Indigenous music and introduces listeners to a new generation of Indigenous artists reclaiming their culture through music and song -- Before there were DJs and club music, Native people had our own ways of getting down! Many of our nations held powwows or other gatherings where we got together to sing and show off our slick dance moves, and we still do that! And you can’t get your dance on without those singers and drummers giving you a beat to bounce to, and a melody to flow with -- Join host Jarrett Martineau as he celebrates songs about Indigenous people shining again in all their brilliance and creativity.
